Linz filmfest's award goes to Iran ‘Birthday Night’

The 2018 Linz Int'l Short Film Festival in Austria awards Iranian 'Birthday Night'.

The 2018 edition of the Linz International Short Film Festival in Austria has presented the Best Short Film award to 'Birthday Night' from Iran.

Written and directed by Omid Shams, the flick narrates the story of two friends and business partners, Ahmad and Ali, who face unexpected challenges on their birthday night.

Known for making ‘The Passage’, the director's other works have won a number of awards and nominations at different film festivals, including the Miami Short Film Festival and the Ohio Independent Film Festival in the US as well as the Tehran International Short Film Festival in Iran.

‘Birthday Night’ has also received the best short film award from the Tehran International Short Film Festival, the grand prix at the 16th Third Eye Film Festival in India, and Best of the Fest award at the 7th Short. Sweet. Film Fest. in the US.

It has gone on screen at some festivals such as the 40th Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival in France, the 2018 MOOOV Filmfestival in Belgium, and the 36th Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival in the US.

The Linz event is the first international short film festival in Linz, Austria, which is a unique film event for short filmmakers and film lovers to network and discover future short film trends on a worldwide level.

The event was established for showcasing and celebrating the best independent short films from already established filmmakers as well as great work from new upcoming talents and artists from all around the world and for assisting in building a shared artistic experience.

The 2018 edition of the Linz was held on October 11-14.
